Participation at the Star Senior Center is open to persons who are 60 years of age or older and any guest. Anyone is welcome at the Center. Participants are asked to complete a Star Senior Center Information sheet upon their fourth visit to the center in case there is an emergency and a congregate meal form in support of the Metro Meals on Wheels Program. The Star Senior Center is neither designated nor qualified for Adult Day Care. All participants must be able to physically care for themselves or have a personal assistant with them. This includes being able to navigate a walker or wheelchair and function independently.
A nutritional lunch is served on Wednesdays and Fridays at noon. Suggested donation for persons age 60 and over is $4.00. Persons under 60 are asked to pay $6.00. Groups visiting are asked to make reservations by calling 208-286-7943. Visit or call the Center for a lunch menu.
Free blood pressure checks are provided the first Friday of each month at 11:00 am. A Health Fair is held once a year to acquaint citizens with medical services that are available. A hearing aid person comes every other 2nd Wednesday of the month and the foot clinic person comes the first Friday every other month. Please call the Senior Center for the correct month.
Special Activities and Trips
Throughout the year a wide variety of activities, parties, and trips are planned for center participants. The first and third Wednesdays before lunch, dominoes and pool are available; and bingo is played following lunch. Pinochle is played at the center every Friday evening at 7:00 pm.
